THE KNOWING

RAINCOUVER

i live in vancouver now, once again. it feels good to be here and you know it's true when you can enjoy a ride like this ^. i had to change pants three times today. i've got one hand skidz on lock. i'm having some school transfer problems, but it gives me an excuse to ride out to UBC and hang around the bike kitchen. i swear somebody shrank the alma hill. only with 30kph headwinds have i not torn up that modest incline. new bike should be done soon. riding my bike keeps me from worrying about not having a job.

nosebleeds covers didn't get done before leaving portland. i'ma try to get into the ubc print lab and get them done soon. should get to portland by may. maybe around the same time i post up some art bombs in seattle with a show curated by adam zeek. new ghosties rap got me on my grind.

Lock up yr daughters...
I'm hittin up the 604 April 20th - 25th. Yes, you heard correct. 4/20. Believe it or not, and I'm sure you won't, but that was completely unintentional. Air Miles restrictions made it happen that way. But I'm in no way complaining, mind you. I must prepare my mind, and lungs... Who's got a bike for me to rip around on when I'm there (I'm lookin at you, Luke... brassknuckle still around??). I'm hoping to get down on some hallucinogens and see what happens, a la the last time I did hallucinogens prior to leaving Vancouver. Let's make it happen people, my mind needs expansion.

On another note, the weather is getting better here... sort of. April showers are meh, nothing I can't handle after the record-setting month of January my first year at UBC, but still suck. At least it's warmer and sunny when it's not raining.

Update on ma bikes *Look away now if that sort of thing offends you*: Pista Concept is now sporting Zipp T2 track hubs laced to NISI Laser tubular rims wearing Conti Sprinter rubber, dropped 1.5 lbs. off the H+Son/Phils and 2 teeth off the cog, thing's a straight ROCKET. Too bad I work the weekends at the shop, Kissena will have to wait (for awhile at least). Steel Pista I am totally loving these days. Just built up a new front wheel: (I'm gettin much better these days...) DT Swiss rr 1.1 Double Eyeletted Rim laced 3x to a Black Formula, nothing to worry about when I lock it up but the secret is the hub's got new Phil Wood bearings haha... Pista is also now rocking/rubbing/running a beat up Mavic Ellipse rear wheel, I traded a Miche seatpost for it busted up and called Mavic to get the parts to rebuild the rear hub with a new axel and it's good enough for city street duty.

Okay, that's about it. Working 6 days a week to put away a grip of cash... I'm feeling a move to Vancouver in about... 2 months. Maybe less. We'll talk when I'm there people.

One more thing... my good friends Henry Carter and Tony Gallucci (former assistant and general managers of Gotham Bikes) are stickin it to the man - they left Gotham to open their own new shop in secret. Brooklyn Bicycles is slated to open May 1st, in Park Slope, BK. Not another track bike boutique, this is the people's bike shop. Full service of course, and whatever flavor of bike gets you randy. I'll keep y'all updated, there's gonna be a mad party of course. Empowering shit, root/pray for the little guy.

From the Red Hook Night Crit last Saturday - note those cobblestones - shit was a naaaaasty 90o turn:

Scary Scary Stuff
For all you bikers and compassionate souls out there, a little positive energy for my friend. She was seriously injured yesterday when two fire trucks collided at an intersection and the ladder truck was knocked over falling partially on a car and partially on her. Freak accident yes, but be wary out there my friends, cars are bigger than you, Fire trucks even more so. So ask whatever entity you believe in to help her out of this one ok.

Love,

All You Vader Haters Suck My Balls
Its been a long time coming on my 'to post list' (not like I really post shit lately anyhows... shut up!), but these hot little pieces need to be seen by all star wars heads. The first clip is a musical number, that really draws attention to some of the more subtle themes from the series. I often feel as though the struggle between galactic imperialism and the subsequent rebellion parallels that of American south against the oppressive, yet more 'advanced' northern region (not the brits as more superficial analysis highlights). Point evidenced here:

Secondly I present a more light hearted homage to the man. This is just the first part of the series, but surely its enough to draw you into the tumultuous story of vader, as he tries to embrace a world that may never truly understand his pain (read:awesomeness).

Heres the rest of the series cuz I'm nice like that
