i always forget how great a library can be. Today I found a whole case of vouge magazines up to the current issue. I brought home a typography book from the 50's released by the government, some really sweet sewing/tailoring books, a book on design marketing, and a book called "clothing as environment" with an astronaut on the cover. blowing up! read read read read read read read

So over at the shop we just got the freestyle booth up and running. BAsically it's protools and somewhere in the range of 700 commercial beats from the various hip hop charts and whatnot. I'm gonna get my flow stupid sick if I've got the time and there are no kids around. Not swearing is harder than I thought. Also the N word is a no no around the shop for a man of my pallor. In other news I've got access to a screen printing set up, four colors no less, as well as ample computers and other super sick shit. I think I like it here.

To the potential loose nooks members, get rhymin, cause you better have some game when you step to da mic.

So in leiu of not much else to do until I get some friends of my own, I've actually been pretty inspired to make some dang new art. I've been continuing on with my pattern making, and have gotten a few nods here and there from people who actually know people who put on shows, so that's a start. The play structure begins next week, so I'm gonna try to work in as much personal work time as possible while exploring the city and doing odd jobs for my brother's shop and whatnot.

I' went to a gallery show at a photo center here and while the photos were for the most part good, I wasn't blown away by any of it. It all seemed done. That is done before. My brother told me that one of the photographers is this gay guy from Austin who is a one man gay thrash metal band called "Assacre" and his act consists of him wearing jeans and no shirt and a rubber dinosaur mask whilst going fucking apeshit on crazy metal riffs. sounds pretty awesome. Anyway I digress.

Performance art metal aside, I got to thinkin on the idea of the inimitable in art. The idea that we see tired themes and schemes in work that is for the artist, wholly original. Its sort of a nod to the human ability to take things that are abstract and different and find within them the common threads which subsequently let us judge an original work as unremarkable. Way to go us.

I'm not proposing that what I do is original or has been done, but I've been pulling my imagery from sources that have no double or are so ephemeral and in the moment that they may never be created again. Be it a bonfire with a certain mixture of wood and combustables, or a poorly grown moustache that will never again sprout so weakly from an upper lip. An identifying mark, or an animal that is long since dead and decomposed. Enough chatter, check these out.

we went painting at sharedavies the other night. i threw up akmd tags, brush was the best though. the skatepark is looking good. i copped the first tag on the new pump section. seems like a much needed addition.
