It's official
Got confirmed by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. Now they just have to issue my visa papers and contract, but I'm in. Might be staying at the fixed.gr/nyc house in do or die Bed Stuy for July, my homie Luke Son (The Asian Jesus) is housesitting and I might sublet his room - get this - the new Zoey Deschanelle (sp?) movie might get filmed there, which means they'll put us up in a hotel for a few weeks and half rent will be subsidized. HELLZ YEH. We'll see if I man up and make it happen.
Meanwhile, The Berrics has been killing it. T.I.A. <3 xo Posted on 01 Jul 2010 by chris
Harbls
So since I've had to stop smoking anything but ciggys for the time being, I've taken up trying to become a scotch snob, specifically a single malt snob. Pretty fun, slightly more costly than the former habit, and just as much a vice. Most of the time we pick something out at the L store that grabs our attention and first impressions are about as far as we get. Obviously I'm more keen to try small distilleries and interesting packaging but lately we've been on some of the big Scottish distillers and thus far, the latest is the greatest: The Glenlivet 12 year is pretty archetypal of Scotch to my palate and that's not a bad thing. It's the new regs for me these days, give it a go if you get the chance. 2 cubes does it right.
Other than that, I watch about 4 hours of World Cup a day, and rack up about 100 pull ups and 100 push ups in between, and try to log 10-15 miles a day. It's pretty fucking boring, but it keeps me fit and passes the time away. Been trying to avoid the internet unsuccessfully for a number of reasons, but I'll keep trying. Anyway, hard to stay away when there's gems like this... ![]() Posted on 29 Jun 2010 by chris
It's Dark and Hell is Hot- DMX
Winding down this installment of the Houston Chronicles (it's a pun, the local paper is called the Houston Chronicle) and generally not packing up my stuff with any efficiency. Quitting my job probably too soon in the interest in having time to "organize" my immediate future has proved a bit of a lark. That said, I've had plenty of daytimes to run quick errands so as to avoid wallowing in the 96 degree weather for extended periods. I run and get coffee, then come home. Then I go to the camera store to look at stuff I shouldn't afford, then go home for more AC bathing. But that's not interesting.
What might be interesting is that today I ought to get my maps from the Adventure Cycling Association at which time I can finally start speculating on my bike ride from Houston to Vermont... Through the deep south, in the middle of summer. I'm an idiot, but it keeps me busy. My virginal touring bike sits next to me brimming with long haul potential, it's panniers empty and eagerly awaiting my probably incorrect decisions on gear. I maintain that the longest bike ride I've ever been on was from Commercial to UBC, so 2200 miles oughta be a good official warm up. After that, I don't really know what's happening. All that is official is that I'm house sitting for the rents for 3 weeks while they're boating around vancouver island with a friend, so come for a visit and pat my old dog. Living at home is not computing when the rents are present though, so I'll either get a place out in the country or make another rash and probably temporary plan until something awesome comes up. Ideally everything will start coming up Milhouse soon. Long Rides and Two Sides, Cornbread and Slaw. Posted on 21 Jun 2010 by oopey
The new old emo
I pretty much exclusively listen to the Smiths, Morrissey, and Pavement these days. Here's what I'm moping to lately. It is now a life goal of mine to hug Morrissey on stage. (Don't worry about me I'm fine, but this shit is some honest music) HATERS 'GON HATE
Pavement is playing in Vancouver sometime in August or something, I'll miss it but you shouldn't. Posted on 19 Jun 2010 by chris
