The perfect video for AKMD
Ok. Since our email gig is cute, lucas loves Japan, I love chimps, Chris is asian, conlan is a boy gorilla, devin makes wacky noises, patrick animates, and paul is easily tricked by simple magic, and whoever else can cry themselves to sleep tonight, I figured this was the perfect video for this blog.

So i'm sitting at a bus station in Caņas, Costa Rica, sewing up my Toms that I had been wearing pretty hard. Lovely Sydney and I had just taken a bus from Playa del Coco, to Liberia, then to Caņas, and were waiting for a bus to Tilaran so we could get a taxi to Santa Elena and the cloud forests. Anyway, I sew up my Toms and Sydney starts doing a little surgery on my foot to get a splinter out, if anyone noticed this they were probably thinking, "gringo's foot must be hurt, bet he can't run." So with my freshly repaired Toms, and my foot bettered by nurturing hands, I was ready to go. The bus pulled up and I put my camera on the bench beside me, and stood up to put on my big ol' pack...Just as I turn around to grab my camera, a Tico at least 6 feet tall, and much skinnier and faster than me sprints by, grabs my camera and bolts out behind the bus station. OH FUCK. I yell "hey, HEY!!," and take off after him, dropping my pack in the street. Friends, I tell you now that I have never run so fast in my life, as far as I know, I may never run that fast again. Yelling and running, a few Ticos joining in the chase, I get just about close enough to tackle the mother fucker. He drops my baby in the street, shattering her LCD screen. I pick her up, dust her off, and hug a kid that was running with me. I return to the bus station and am greeted with applause, wearing my camera like a medal round my neck, hands shaking, and shaking hands, I get on the bus and put the whole thing behind me.
![]() ![]() ![]() It turned out to be fun to not have my screen available to me, it reaffirmed my belief that i'm an alright photographer. p.s. can't wait to see you luke. Posted on 28 Aug 2009 by conlan

Posts have been in a lull lately, must mean everyone's busy. I'm only half busy, so I don't really have an excuse. Nothing much to report from the Big A, same old same old, except I'm managing now at Brooklyn Bicycles (which is soon to be renamed 'AKA Brooklyn' - I dunno how I feel about that but it's due to some bitch down the street suing us, so whatever works I guess...) in prep for the owners leaving me in charge of their baby whilst they're in Vegas for Interbike 09.
Prep for the migration and immigration out West is on due course, seems like ETA is gonna be like Oct. 2 or 3, I'm leaving Brooklyn the 27th of September to go back to Maryland for a couple of days, then heading straight West on the 29th, trip's planned for 3 hard days of bookin it cross-country in the Civic Hybrid with bikes 7 cat on board, with only stops to eat/sleep/refuel. No visa has me a bit nervous about entering and exiting Canada, but hopefully that status won't be long, all you Alaskans keep your ears to the ground for jobs that will score me a visa. I've been in touch with Lyle Vallie of Vallie Components , he was here in NYC for a bit hanging out with Cycling WMD and they're both fixed.gr/nyc forum peeps, super cool dudes. Lyle is from Vancouver, and I'm looking forward to meeting him in person and checking out his shop. I'm hoping that maybe I can finagle a visa somehow through that connect, but I haven't quite worked out all the kinks there... Anyway, riding bikes a lot lately, just EP'd some Chris King wheels and ditched my Mavic Aksiums, so looking forward to the nicer wheelset and not having to worry about flatting my EC90 tubies all the time. Should be a great set of wheels for Vancouver riding too, and I really just can't wait to hear that loud ass freehub body ratcheting away. Hope you all are well, I'm jealous of Luke's planned trip down South, hopefully a repeat's not too far away (though I'd have to get in a bit better shape...) Also, my mustache is coming along like a pubescent middle schooler's. It's gross and amazing and should be in full bloom by the time I hit Vancouver. Remember that this is an Asian man speaking. Just you wait and see... <3 chris ![]() Posted on 26 Aug 2009 by chris
It's been a while
Since I posted any camera fodder here. So here's a little sample from a brief foray into the world of Muay Thai. These are from the guest fights at my camp.
![]() I would kill for a taco right now. A really good taco with two tortillas and some carnitas, maybe some mango salsa and surr cream. When i get home I shall get it, or kill for it. Now that I know how. The new kanye song about his ego sucks fat donkey dick. Beyonce should be ashamed and Jay-Z is a goober for making that song about autotune and then letting his wife takke part in the king of auto tune's project. Damn you pop-hop.
