THE KNOWING

From Manali With Love
SO... I have about five more days left in india, which is both a drag and a relief. It's been amazing. Something splendiferous and something culturally horrifying just about everyday. I really ought to have been writing more because my memory is terrible, but I left my laptop charger in Amritsar and i've been sort of techless since. Writing essay exams in uni pretty much crippled my handwriting, so all I'll have are photos and slowly fading notions of awesome times.

Let's recap some of the radness. I'll work backwards and it shall be brief as I really want to talk about other things. Saw the dalai Lama, rode on the top of a bus and jeep, saw some beggar circus, snake charmer, went to a rave at teh top of a mountain, hung out at a river swimming hole, lost weight, gained weight, smoked too much hash, met some cool folks, saw some crazy shiat. Meh, I'm losing the chronological integrity, time to stop.

What's next on the agenda. Well. Korea for one. About two weeks methinks to see my big brudder and a buddy who's been teaching. I was originally slated to head back to the comfy confines of North America after that, but I think since I'm over here, I ought to stay till I have a real obligation back home. That is in october as far as I can tell.

So... Here's my idea, which I am presently doing the research and price figuring for. Muay Thai for a month, in Thailand. I've been nursing this strange need for some sort of martial rule in my life and it's been manifesting itself in potentially insane notions like joining the marines, or some damn thing. I think I need a good ass kicking, but in a somewhat controlled fashion, so I'm going to the source of ass kickery to see how I fare. Strange notion, but my mind is yearning for me to get my body's shit back togethor, and this seems like a better way to do than jogging and going to the gym, which is boring as fuck.

I guess if everyone is going to be geeky about bikes, I can be geeky about kicking ass, cause every good gang has a scrappy wildcard. It might all fail miserably, but this is the life I lead. Maybe i can go all Bloodsport and fight with broken glass fists, or maybe I'lls tick with Hot shots and go sprinkles and mnms. Mmmmm & M's

friendz from the interwebz
Met up with John Prolly the other day, and I gotta say I like the guy. Think what you will about the dude for being the face of this whole "fixed gear freestyle" whosyamacallit but he's a nice dude and a big part of the community here in the city. Traded him a Dura Ace 8 speed shifter for some beers. Dude has straight bought up all the 60cm Merckx's in range of the city, it's impressive and makes me jealous.

Anyway, final week of the Tour in the Alps should be killer, looking forward to it. Too bad for Big George and Cavendish, seems like Columbia coulda got their shit together a bit better but Hushovd definitely wins the poonanny jersey for being a little bitch.

Meanwhile, the Bareknuckle has a makeover in store for it...

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
We had a picnic at the velodrome this morning, and some of those guys go as fast on the track by themselves, as I do descending in my highest gear. July is the best time of the year for cycling in Portland. The national track qualifiers were last week, Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge is right now, Seattle to Portland just happened, and the Cascade Cycling Classic is right here. All of that, plus waking up early every morning to watch Big George lead out Cavendish like a champ has really got me in the mood...but my wheel's broke and River City has it until tuesday. Anyone up for a ride on tuesday?

T-PAININ' TOO MUCH

if you haven't read it yet, dash snow has left us. died at 27 of an overdose, as he should have. R.I.P. SACE.
being broke and reading about dash has really made me think about why i am an artist and what that means. and i guess i don't know the what or why of it, i just know that i couldn't not. i hope you can vibe with me.

this little beauty of an automobile has been a bit of a focus for me recently. though i never got the title, this is the first car i've ever owned. damn proud of it, but probably more proud that it isn't ever going to be driven again. as soon as i drove this rust bucket down from kamloops, i got on trading it in. bc's got this sweet program to get old cars off the road and in exchange for my car, they are going to give me 1200$ toward a bike. looks like i'll actually be racing cross this season. more later...

BK bikes
So, in an interesting string of events, Gotham Bikes has started to suck ass and gone evil-empire take over manhattan style with new management, etc. I was determined to not work for them either way come the end of the season. My buddies that left Gotham to open Brooklyn Bicycles in... Brooklyn, have offered me an opportunity to work for them for a spell once some of their people leave for school at the end of summer.

I'm thinking real hard about this one, and will have to see about my living situation. My sub-let in Stiff Little Fingers land is up soon, although I may be able to swing a few weeks into September, and I'm not about to enter into another lease or anything like that. My girl is off to Korea early August, so that leaves me to figure things out for myself, and I'm pretty happy with that.

Thus far I'm thinking I'll stick around for a minute in BK and help out my friends at their shop, and I'm thinking when the sub-let is up, that's that and I'm gonna get my ass and my bike(s?) 'cross country back to VanCity.

That said, I need you Vancouver-based Alaskans to help me out. It's hard for me to scope a spot from the East Coast, but if you know of anything that'll be either opening up in the early fall or want to collabo-live with moi then hit me up.

Bear in mind:
- I have a cat. She's a cutie and low maintenance, doesn't shed much unless its changing seasons as with all animals. All of her costs and that shit of course is solely my responsibility.
- I will have at least 2 bikes with me (no biggie there, I don't have much other stuff, really)
- I like to have a good time and plan on doing so regularly. It's my preferred way of life/living

If that sounds like it interests you, then let's make something happen. I figure I'll be mad chillin for about a month taking my time with a job search that will secure me a visa, but my cat kinda makes couch living a bit much to ask of anyone.

Males and females and all sorts of chillers in between welcome, I've been living with 3 other women for the past year and currently live with my girlfriend so that's no issue for me, and I'm fine with bro-ing down too. I know how to live communally and like to think I'm pretty good at it.

LETS DO IT. GO TEAM
